2010 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference

The MEAC Basketball Tournament tips off next Tuesday March 9th in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The title game takes place on March 13th. Morgan St earned the top seed for the tournament after winning the regular season title for the third consecutive year. The Bears were lead by senior guard Reggie Holmes. Holmes was named the 2010 MEAC Player of the Year recently. Will Morgan St survive with a huge target on their back? The BWI says the will.

2010 Big Sky Conference

The Big Sky will roll out their conference tournament on March 6th and it concluded on Wednesday May 10th. The semifinals and championship games are in Ogden, Utah. The Big Sky has a weird bracket setup as only six of the nine teams qualify for the tournament and the top two seeds receive a bye. Sophomore guard Damian Lillard was recently named the Big Sky Player of the Year and he led Weber St to the regular season title. Weber St finished with a 13-3 mark in conference play. He will lead them to the NCAA Tournament also.

2010 West Coast Conference

“Advance to the Dance!” will tip off March 5th in Las Vegas. The championship game is held on Monday, March 8th, with the winner taking the West Coast Conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. Gonzaga won their 10th consecutive regular season title and had a 12-2 mark this season. The Bulldogs are lead by the WCC Player of the Year, senior Matt Bouldin. The BWI has the Zags sweeping the WCC crowns by grabbing the tournament title also.

2010 Summit League Tournament

The Summit League pays a visit to Sioux Falls, South Dakota to find out who their representative in the NCAA Tournament will be. The Summit League Basketball Tournament kick starts on March 6th and wraps on with the title game next Tuesday, March 9th. The Oakland University Grizzlies topped the regular season with a record setting conference run. The Grizzlies set a Summit League record for wins and winning percentage as the finished with a 17-1 record. If Oakland can back up their regular season title, they could be a trendy upset pick in March Madness and the BWI says they will grab the crown.

2010 American East Tournament

Hartford is hosting the first two rounds of the American East Conference Basketball Tournament beginning March 6th. The championship game takes place on March 13th and will be on the home court of the highest seed left. Stony Brook took the Regular season crown at 13-3, a game ahead of Vermont. Vermont has two-time defending Player of the Year Marqus Blakley leading the way. The Catamount’s Blakley is the favorite for the POY award again this year, having just been named the fan’s choice for best player. The BWI favors the #2 seed Vermont Catamounts to secure the bid to the Big Dance.
